We are a new journal of poetry and short prose. We like work that haunts, electrifies, tingles. We like creativity. We believe the imagination contains as much truth as "truth."
General Submissions
Stone Highway Review is a new journal of short prose and poetry. Stone Highway will publish three times a year, in both print and electronic format. We hope to gain an online presence, though we understand and appreciate the importance of print as well.
WE ARE NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS.
Please send us your poetry - Keep in mind that we prefer shorter poems, but will consider longer works. We like poetry that makes us feel something new, poems that use language in exciting ways and create images we wish we had thought of first. Simply put, move us.
Send us prose - We are looking for prose that defies genre, though we will also consider more traditional fiction pieces. Anything that slips into the surreal or plays with language in new and exciting ways will be given highest priority. We love any writing that is dark and evocative, work that is trying to do new things within traditional limitations. We will consider experiments, hybrid work, and even creative nonfiction. If your fiction is more poetry than prose, we want it.
A few tips for prose - we prefer prose that is lyrical, with full character development and deep insight into human nature. We do not tend to publish prose that is mostly dialogue or prose that tells us how to feel, rather than showing us. Nothing over 750 words, please.
We plan to respond quickly, but please give us 90 days. If you have not heard from us after three months, contact us at stonehighwayreview@gmail.com. Feel free to email us with any other questions.
